Dr. Maher H. Al-Mahrouq is the Director General of the Association of Banks in Jordan. Previously, he was Director General of the Jordan Chamber of Industry, Director of Policies and Studies at the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation of Jordan, and General Manager of the SME Centre at the Arab Academy for Banking and Financial Services. Dr. Al-Mahrouq is an economist with over two decades of experience in industrial economics, small firm policy, and economic development. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne (United Kingdom), where he specialized in small-firm financing and policy. Throughout his career, he has worked extensively as a consultant and trainer, advising national, regional and international institutions on economic policy, SME development, and capacity building. He has contributed to policy formulation in finance, entrepreneurship and economic empowerment. Additionally, he has served on numerous boards and advisory committees, including in the Personal Data Protection Council, the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the University of Jordan, the Economic Empowerment Team of the Jordan National Commission for Women, the Jordan Postal Saving Fund, the Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund, and the Technical And Vocational Skills Development Commission, the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD), and the Board of Trustees of Jordan University of Science and Technology. In addition, he has a number of published articles in local and international journals.
